How to Vote in Coweta County

Voting in Coweta County is administered by the Coweta County Elections and Voter Registration Office in accordance with Georgia election law. Voters may register, verify their information, and cast a ballot using the options outlined below. For the most current and official information, voters should always consult the Georgia Secretary of State and the Coweta County Elections Office.

Registering to Vote:

  • To register to vote in Georgia, you must:

  • Be a United States citizen

  • Be a legal resident of Georgia and Coweta County

  • Be at least 17½ years old to register and 18 years old to vote

  • Not be serving a sentence for a felony involving moral turpitude

  • Not have been declared mentally incompetent by a court

Voters may register:

  • Online through the Georgia Secretary of State

  • By mail using a voter registration application

  • In person at the Coweta County Elections Office

Absentee Voting (Vote by Mail)

Georgia allows no-excuse absentee voting, meaning any registered voter may choose to vote by mail instead of voting in person. Absentee voting is a convenient option for voters who prefer to receive and return their ballot by mail.

  • Any registered voter in Georgia may vote absentee

  • No reason or special circumstance is required

  • Absentee voting is available for local, state, and federal elections
     

How to Request an Absentee Ballot

To vote absentee, a voter must submit an absentee ballot application to their county elections office.

Key points to know:

  • Requests can be made weeks before Election Day

  • The deadline to request an absentee ballot is 11 days before Election Day

  • A new application is required for each election

  • Ballots are mailed after the request is approved

 Returning an Absentee Ballot

  • Completed absentee ballots must be received by the county elections office by Election Day

Early Voting Locations in Coweta

During the early voting period, registered voters in Coweta County can cast their ballots in person at any of the designated early voting locations below. Early voting typically begins several weeks before Election Day and continues through the Friday immediately preceding the election.

Voters may visit any early voting location in the county during the early voting period. Hours and dates vary by election; check the Georgia Secretary of State’s My Voter Page for specific early voting schedules and hours for a given election year.

Election Day Voting & Voter ID

On Election Day, registered voters in Georgia cast their ballots in person at their assigned polling location. Polls are open from 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. If you’re in line by 7:00 p.m., you are allowed to vote.

  • Identification: Georgia law requires that you present an acceptable photo ID when voting in person. Typical acceptable IDs include a Georgia driver’s license, Georgia ID card, U.S. passport, or other government-issued photo identification. You cannot vote in person without providing proper ID.

  • Precinct card: You may receive a precinct card after you register, but it is not required to vote.

  • Assistance: If you need help due to disability or difficulty reading or marking the ballot, you may be assisted in a manner allowed by law.
